What is the difference between biodegradable bag and fully biodegradable bag

Degradable packaging bags, the implication is degradable, but degradable packaging bags are divided into “degradable” and “fully degradable” two. Degradable packaging bag refers to the production process to add a certain amount of additives (such as starch, modified starch or other cellulose, photosensitizer, biodegradative agent, etc.), so that the stability of the plastic packaging bag, and then compare easier to degrade in the natural environment. Fully degradable packaging bag refers to the plastic packaging bag is completely degraded into water and carbon dioxide. The main source of this fully degradable material is processed into lactic acid, namely PLA, from corn and cassava.

Polylactic acid (PLA) is a new kind of biological substrate and renewable biodegradable material. Glucose is obtained from starch raw material by saccharification, and then lactic acid with high purity is fermented from glucose and certain strains, and then polylactic acid with certain molecular weight is synthesized by chemical synthesis. It has good biodegradability, and can be completely degraded by microorganisms in nature under specific conditions after use, and eventually generate carbon dioxide and water. It does not pollute the environment, which is very beneficial to the protection of the environment, and is environmentally friendly material for workers.

At present, the main bio-based materials of fully degradable packaging bags are composed of PLA+PBAT, which can be completely decomposed into water and carbon dioxide in 3-6 months under the condition of composting (60-70 degrees), without pollution to the environment. Why add PBAT, professional manufacturer of flexible packaging, under the tell interpretation is PBAT adipic acid, 1, 4 – butanediol, terephthalic acid copolymer, too much is a full biodegradable synthetic aliphatic and aromatic polymers, PBAT has excellent flexibility, can undertake film extruding, blowing out of processing, coating and other processing. The purpose of PLA and PBAT blending is to improve the toughness, biodegradation and molding properties of PLA. PLA and PBAT are incompatible, so the performance of PLA can be significantly improved by selecting appropriate compatibilizers.
